How should I choose an Institute?
To choose an OET or IELTS coaching institute, check the following;
a) Pass percentage of students
b) Qualification of the teachers
c) Coursebooks and practise material
What is cost of an OET course and how long should I study OET to pass?
OET courses in the best institues cost between Rs.8000 per month to Rs.12000 per month. Any institute offering courses for less means they do have qualified teachers, use sub-standard material and have a poor pass percentage
An ideal OET course means 1 month of studying the skills necessary to pass and 1 month of exam practise. However, this depends on your individual language level. So first, do a language level exam and follow the table below.
-
Languagle Level No of months A1, A2 Minimum 6 months B1, B1+ Three months – Foundation course in Listening & Reading for 1 month and 2 months of test based course – Offline B2 Two months – Focused, exam based course – Online OR offline C1 One month Self study with Online or offline practise with an OET trainer for Writing and Speaking PLUS 15 days exam practise
If my level is B1 OR B1+ what are my chances of passing the OET exam?
The OET exam is for students who have a minimum B2 Language level so getting a B grade will mean working intensively for atleast eight hours daily to pass the exam.
My level is A2. What are my chances of passing the OET exam?
It is impossible to pass the OET exam with an A2 language level. You will need to spend atleast a few months to better your language level before you can attempt the exam.
I have written the OET exams a few times and my scores in Reading and Writing are poor, only a C grade? What should I do?
Firstly, evaluate if you have had good trainers. Then review the practise material you worked with and whether you have had any individual attention while working at an institute.
Then look at institutes and training centres that provide better training. Perhaps you could also explore working one on one with an individual trainer on a private tution basis to succeed.
